Career Exploration

During your high school experience, your school counselor and school faculty assist with the career exploration journey through various delivery methods. Students are encouraged to start career exploration well before their senior year.

On this page, you will find helpful links for exploring careers and the training they require. In today’s world, most careers require some kind of post-secondary education. Your school counselor strongly recommends that you learn about all your options after graduating from Liberty High School. Options include, but are not limited to two/four year colleges, technical schools, apprenticeships, and/or military.

Workplace Learning Connection

Workplace Learning Connection, a department of Kirkwood Community College, partners with Liberty High School to offer quality career exploration experiences through their job shadow and internship programs. Students have opportunities to explore, observe, and converse with a regional professional to expand their career knowledge and understanding of a career.

Deadlines to sign up for job shadows/internships will be communicated by email, the main page of the Workplace Learning website.

Xello is a college and career interactive website that Liberty High School utilizes to help students explore their future endeavors. Xello offers a series of surveys to help students learn about potential careers they may be interested in, along with college searches,  and financial aid services to help fulfill students’ goals. Students also have access to resume tips, tools to assist with interviewing skills, and job search assistance.

Apprenticeships: Another Option After Graduation

Many students and parents are not aware of the post-secondary option of apprenticeships. An apprenticeship is a system of paid training or profession with on-the-job training. Apprenticeships also enable individuals to gain a license to practice in a regulated profession. Some apprenticeships even pay for college coursework.
